The Good, The Bad, and The...Ugly?

Art has always inspired me. I don't think I'll ever become one of those amazing artists who has swanky gallery shows. I do, however, adore attending an art opening. I can't tell you how many times I have looked at a piece of art and thought, "Oh Jesus Christ, not the red dot on white canvas shit again." Let me first note, I am not an art snob. I have a few (okay ten) years of art/design knowledge, but it does not matter how much education you've gathered over the years. If a piece moves you, it moves you...if not...well...then it doesn't. Sometimes you'll see styles/ideas repeated over and over...sometimes you'll meet an artist who doesn't want to hear your opinion cuz, "they gots their shit already figured out." (Btw: If an artist thinks they know all the hidden secrets to their work, then they shouldn't consider themselves an artist). Art can make you weak in the knees like an amazing first kiss. It'll sneak up on you, somehow manage to steal your breath, and then leave you wanting more. That. Yes That. Is a good piece of art.

On Thursday I was lucky enough to have attended a show featuring Albert Reyes. It was at the Pacific Design Center and titled
Albert Reyes: Never Dies The Dream. I met Albert years ago through a mutual friend (isn't that how everyone in LA meets?) and have always been a fan. Besides being one of the kindest souls on earth (he doesn't care how cool or hip you are, he's for real, yo.) His illustrations are intense with a lovely dash of comedic relief...
(Sorry about the glare. I was using an iphone)

While at the PDC, we were able to wander around and sneak in and out of galleries. I was surprised at how many large, beautiful, open spaces were not being utilized. Hello, economy?

Below are a few pieces that blew my mind, well, maybe not blew my mind, but I did feel a weak knee here and there.

Two Headed Bambi, awwww

I just liked his gold shoulder purse

LOVE IT!

"I never thought I'd land in pictures with a face like mine."

There are many icons in the world. Some, perhaps...are timeless. Audrey Hepburn has always been able to inspire, entertain, and leave an impression. She is my current style icon. Although I am no Ms. Hepburn, I enjoy picking certain pieces from past decades and throwing them together with current trends. Creating your own look is refreshing. Someone may say, "hey you look like so and so..." but there is always a part of you that is unique no matter who or what you resemble. Below are a few items I plan to include in my wardrobe this week....month..
..year? Who knows? That's the beauty of fashion. You can easily change your look depending on your mood. What would an Audrey Hepburn mood be? Hmm......

Cheer Up Chuck

It's been raining a lot here in Los Angeles. Usually, I'm into the rain, but today I wish the sky would make up its mind. It's one of those cold, hazy days, where the light is so bright it hurts your eyes. This is worse than driving on the 134 in a horrendous downpour. When days like this come I try to think of things that make me happy.

This makes me happy...

Miss Monroe is so adorable it's gross. Remember when you'd sit like this as a little girl?
She's wearing my favorite color. So cute. So Happy.

Dear Lord these look amazing. They look too good to actually be able to eat.
Hmm.....I wonder. I'd go straight for that cherry if I could.

Heaven on earth. When you love someone this is the best feeling of all time.
*Love*

Change is Good

I got rid of many things last week...a boyfriend...house clutter..and my hair. In light of these recent changes I decided to post all the lovely short haired beauties that inspired my new (well, not really) pixie cut. It feels good to be back to the old me.
